1. Take Your Business Seriously You need to have a plan for your business. I read a quote recently that said If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. If you are serious about becoming a successful coach, Here are a few questions to get you started on your business plan. Can your clients afford you, and if they can what is your optimal pricing? Who is your competition and why should your clients choose you over them? How can you best “package” your coaching so your clients recognize it as the best solution for their problems they are prepared to spend money to resolve? How do you reach large numbers of clients and get yourself well known? How much time, and by what best method, will you need to market each week to keep your practice filled? 2. Pick A Specific Niche If you want to build successful coaching practice, pick a specific niche that you would like to target. Sometimes people do not want to say no to anyone, so then end up sending out general and ineffective marketing messages. If you are in the first 6 months of your coaching business, you may still b deciding on your niche. It is important to have that focus for your business though. When you pick your niche, you set yourself apart from the rest of he coaching world. It is far easier and more effective to target a specific group of people with a clear and consistent message. When picking your niche, pick a group of people that you love to work with and that would appreciate and value much of your life experiences, training and accomplishments. 3. Do Not Try To Do It All On Your Own Your clients hire you because they learn quicker and advance further with the assistance of a coach. The more feedback, learning, awareness and general support that anyone gets, the faster they will move ahead. Taking this into account, why do so many coaches try to start a new business and master their coaching skills all by themselves? If you can afford a coach, great. Get one! However, if you are just starting out and are building your business on a budget, look for other ways of getting the support you need. Join the list serve or online forum at your coaching school. Establish a mastermind group, surround yourself with people that will tell you when you are stuck, support you when you need it, and hold you accountable for moving ahead. Do not try to do it all alone. Do you want to learn some great ways to take your coaching practice to the next level?
